Guardians of Allura, Short Story

Here is the last GoA short story about Willow,  Eclipse stood under the full moon. She had to know for sure, had the time come? The Unicorn's black coat glimmered in the clearing and her mane shifted as she lowered her horn to gently touch the grass. She closed her eyes and let the visions come.  Eclipse sighed as the pictures faded. She knew what must be done and she could not change it even if she tried. "Eclipse?" Willow quiet call drifted across the clearing. Eclipse raised her head but did not turn to the sound of bare feet walking on the grass.  "Eclipse," Willow said as she came to a stop beside her, "Is everything alright?" Eclipse raised her eyes to the stars. "I hope so." she turned in the direction Willow had come from. "Come, we must sleep, tomorrow I want you to play for me."   The sun rose over Allura, waking the sleepy land. Willow clambered down the tree she had slept in, her belongings tied around her waist.  With a...

Update

So... I had planned for this post to be the last Guardians of Allura (I going to refere to this as GoA from now on) short story, but it has not been written yet. So this is going to be an update post. First, I did Camp Nano last month. I did not reach my goal this time, but was able to give a bit of plot to the story (that will remain secret til it's done).  My writing goals for this month are to edit White Foot, and give it to some people to read. And to finish a short story I was supposed to write last month. Second, I have an idea for this blog that I'm playing around with, I have not  officially decided if I'll do it yet. And lastly, I am terrible at coming up with things to write, so that all. Estella Kate

Guardians of Allura, After the Beginning

Here's another short story. This one comes after Guardians of Allura #1 and before #2. I wrote this because someone I know keeps asking about this series, particularly these characters, so til I write the books here you go. Faith peeked in; Midnight sat staring into the fire in the centre of the room. The burning red flame danced within its ice crystal prison and lit the cave with a blue light. "Midnight." Faith called. The black werewolf turned to her with a rustle of wings. "Yes?" "I going to the village, would you like to come?" She asked. Midnight rose and came to stand beside her in the entrance to the cave. "You know I have to watch the Door." "You’re always watching the Door, I'm sure you can leave it for a little while." Faith said brushing her furry wing against his. He looked at her and replied, "I made a promise and I must keep it." Faith sighed, "Fang." she called out. The young werewolf scrambled...

Guardians of Allura, A Short Story

It's been a while since I posted one of these, if you want to read the others  here and here . Willow was back in the garden again. The red roses and white lilies were arranged exactly as she remembered them. And in the centre of the garden was the huge oak, its leaves always red. Under the oak Alicia sat beside her on the bench. "Willow," Alicia said to the young girl, "Do you think you can keep a secret?" Willow shifted on the bench and looked up at her, "Sure." Alicia drew a necklace from her pack. She held it up for Willow to see. A simple round Obsidian stone hung from the silver chain. "This is a very special stone." Alicia explained as the stone twirled around though the air. "And I want you to look after it. But you must never show it to your Aunt or let her take it." Alicia dropped it into Willow's hand. "I won't." Willow replied staring at the stone. "Alicia!" Ashera's voice echo through th...

Lest We Forget

So I know it's not April, but I needed something to post. So here is a flash fiction. April 25th At the end of the alley the metal soldier stood forgotten. He stared down the paved path, his arm raised in an eternal salute. The rust had crawled over his features, and a spider spun a web in the crook of his arm. An old dried bottlebrush wreath lay at his feet. If only someone remember. The old lady walked slowly down the road; a crown of rainbow flowers graced her head. She paused outside the cake shop. Something nagged at the edge of her mind. Finally, she grabbed it. April 25th She hurried off and before long she stood infront of the metal soldier in the long-forgotten alley. She removed the flower crown from her head and replaced the dried wreath at his feet. And said three words. Three word that were engraved on the soldier’s pedestal. Three word that should never be forgotten. "Lest We Forget." Estella Kate

A Reblog

This is a reblog from A Need To Breathe . I’ve been mulling over this post for a while and I finally decided to write it. (At least, if you’re reading this, I guess I did.) ðŸ˜‰ May is food allergy awareness month, which is a nice thought for me. If new followers aren’t aware, I have a severe anaphylactic allergy to wheat. For the past twelve years, I’ve struggled with people not knowing enough about my allergy to keep me safe. Taking responsibility for myself and taking the precautions that I need to often leave me feeling hurt and frustrated. And that’s how I figured it out – I don’t like talking about food allergies. In the day-to-day, I don’t talk about them. They just . . . are what they are. I live with them and move on. I know the things I can do and can’t do, and that’s normal. I don’t remember living any other way. But there was a time when we lived differently. We could go out to eat at restaurants, we could share a meal with family at their house instead of ours. We could...

White Foot

Image
During April I participated in Camp NaNoWriMo . This is the story I worked on (and completed!). Synopsis:  Barras has lived his whole life as the son of the Alpha. When five wolves make him question his life, he learns his past has many secrets and his future has only one path. "He will come and you will know him by the white paw on his front foot." Excerpt:      The deer head swung up, nose twitching and ear hunting for the smallest sound. I crouched lower to avoid being seen. All of a sudden the chase begun. Wolves sprung from the bushes as the deer fled. My heart pounded as I ran through the undergrowth. Suddenly I flew through the air as something big crashed into me. I jump to my feet, hackles raised I turned to what ever had hit me. Ash rose from the floor, he looked even bigger up close. Callalilly came running over. "Sorry. Ash did you really have to hit him that hard?" She said apologetically. Ash shrugged, "Sorry." he huffed. ...

What Homeschooling Is

Image
So, I hope these rambling make sense. Homeschooling is learning at home. Yes, we do school, but we learn other ways too. Being raised on a farm I had, and still have, hands on learning experience. Many imaginary games were play in paddocks. Many animals are observed and raised. Garden are cared for. Work is apart of learning. Homeschoolers are social. We get together regularly with other homeschooler. We have friends who we talk to often, not all of them are homeschoolers. Homeschoolers are talented. Art, music, sport, all these things homeschoolers do. A big chunk of the orchestra I play in are homeschoolers. Well, God Bless, Estella Kate

Guardians of Allura, A Short Story

Here is the next short story. Also check out the new page on all my stories. Willow came running through the trees. "Eclipse." she called. Eclipse raised her head. "They're here." Willow puffed as she came to a stop in front of the unicorn. Eclipse sighed, "Did they see you?" Willow shook her head sending her curly hair flying around her face. "They didn't even know I was there." "Well, they will soon." Eclipse said as Willow climbed onto her back. "We must leave now." They left at a gallop. When they reached the place that had been their home for the past month, Willow quickly scaled the tree. She quickly gathered her few possessions. Her flute, cloak, and bag of healing herbs were shoved hastily into a pack. Eclipse called from the ground, "Hurry, I can hear them coming." Willow quickly climbed down. She followed eclipse into the trees to hide. "Shouldn...

Guardians of Allura, A Short Story

I have decided I will be doing a series of short stories based on a book series I am writing  Guardians of Allura. H ere is the first one. The two figures walked through the trees; their way was lit by a glowing topaz that hung around the neck of the older one. "Alicia, where are we going?" the young girl asked as she stumbled over a tree root. Alicia stopped to help her up. She brushed the curly brown hair out of Willow's face and replied, "Somewhere where you'll be safe from your Aunt." Willow's hand went to the necklace around her neck. The small piece of Obsidian that hung from it was the whole reason she had to hide from her Aunt. Alicia took Willow's other hand and continued down the path. Finally, they reached a clearing. In the middle of the clearing a black unicorn stood staring up at the moon. The unicorn turned to them when they reached her. "Are you sure this is what needs to happen?" Alicia asked her...

Excerpt from Divided

Image
Here is a excerpt from Divided. Written from Twilight's POV. I wove through the maze of stalls and people that crowded the streets of Horizon. It was getting late so I slowly made my way to an inn. The Flying Pig was noisy and full of people, the smell that reached my nose was far from pleasant. As I headed for the counter, I noticed a man in a uniform watching me. "Excuse me," I said to the short lady behind the counter, “Do you have a room available?" She looked up and noticing the man who was watching me replied, "Sorry, we're full. Please leave." She then quickly disappeared through a door. Puzzled I headed out the front door. Outside a hand suddenly seized my arm, and a gruff voice demanded "Where are your papers?" I whirled around and came face to face with the uniformed man from inside. Staring into his face I demanded, "Let me go!" I tried to twist my arm free. He tightened his grip and snarled, "Pa...

Divided

Image
Introducing the story I am currently working on. Starlight has grown up in Sky and she couldn't imagine leaving. All she wants is to become a Master magician, and live in Sky for the rest of her life. Twilight has grown up in Sky too, but she can't wait to leave and see the world outside the gates. She soon discovers it's nothing like she expected. Their paths will cross again. Will it be Twi's chance to come home, or is Star's life in danger? Divided is about two sisters who choose two very different path, but in the end they both lead them to the same spot. I am currently editing this story, which is  progressing very  slowly . Hopefully when I have edited enough I can share some of it with you. Estella Kate
