Guardians of Allura, Short Story
Eclipse
stood under the full moon. She had to know for sure, had the time come?
The Unicorn's black coat glimmered in the clearing and
her mane shifted as she lowered her horn to gently touch the grass. She closed
her eyes and let the visions come.
Eclipse sighed as the pictures faded. She knew what
must be done and she could not change it even if she tried.
"Eclipse?" Willow quiet call drifted across
the clearing. Eclipse raised her head but did not turn to the sound of bare
feet walking on the grass.
"Eclipse," Willow said as she came to a stop beside
her, "Is everything alright?"
Eclipse raised her eyes to the stars. "I hope
so." she turned in the direction Willow had come from. "Come, we must
sleep, tomorrow I want you to play for me."
The sun rose over Allura, waking the sleepy land.
Willow clambered down the tree she had slept in, her belongings tied around her
waist. With a questioning look she mounted Eclipse.
They journeyed in the silence of the forest for some
time before Willow finally voiced the question she been pondering since the
night before.
"What's happening?"
Eclipse continued steadily as she replied, "Our
time of running and hiding is over."
"Is Alicia coming?" Willow said quickly.
"No child," she replied, "I feel we
will be going to her." Eclipse halted; they had reached the same clearing
from last night.
Willow slid to the ground, "What are we doing
here then?" She asked.
The unicorn walked to the centre of the clearing and
gently lay down before answering. "I would like you to play for
me."
Willow sat beside her on the grass and removed her
flute from her belt. "what happens after?"
"We will see." was the simple reply.
Eclipse watched as the young girl raised the wooden
instrument to her lips, as the sounds floated through the air and the birds
joined the song. She watched Willow's eyes widen as she saw something in the
tree.
Willow darted a glance at Eclipse, who nodded
slightly. Her song did not falter, but her eyes fixed on the figures emerging
form the forest.
Eclipse did not turn to look, she kept her gaze on the
young girl she had raised in the forest, the one with curly brown hair, the one
wearing a tattered dark blue dress. She didn't need to look she knew everything
Willow saw.
A young girl on the back of a white unicorn, a boy of
the same age holding a staff, and a grey werewolf were standing on the edge of
the clearing watching a wild looking girl play a wooden flute while sitting
next to a black unicorn.
It was everything Eclipse had seen under the full
moon. Their lives were changing and changing fast.
