Guardians of Allura, A Short Story

I have decided I will be doing a series of short stories based on a book series I am writing Guardians of Allura. Here is the first one.

The two figures walked through the trees; their way was lit by a glowing topaz that hung around the neck of the older one.

"Alicia, where are we going?" the young girl asked as she stumbled over a tree root.

Alicia stopped to help her up. She brushed the curly brown hair out of Willow's face and replied, "Somewhere where you'll be safe from your Aunt."

Willow's hand went to the necklace around her neck. The small piece of Obsidian that hung from it was the whole reason she had to hide from her Aunt.

Alicia took Willow's other hand and continued down the path.

Finally, they reached a clearing. In the middle of the clearing a black unicorn stood staring up at the moon. The unicorn turned to them when they reached her.

"Are you sure this is what needs to happen?" Alicia asked her.

The unicorn nodded and turned to Willow.

"Hello Willow, my name is Eclipse." Her voice was gentle and kind.

"Hello." Willow replied softly.

Alicia looked at Willow and said, "You will be staying with Eclipse, she will keep you safe from your Aunt."

"Will you come back for me?" Willow asked.

Alicia looked at Eclipse, who shook her head slightly. "Willow, I may not come back and get you, but I promise I will send someone when it's safe again. Now I must go."

Willow walked beside Eclipse as they followed Alicia to the edge of the clearing.

"Where are we going now?" Willow asked when she had disappeared into the darkness.

"Why don't you get on my back and you'll find out." Eclipse walked over to a fallen tree.

Willow stood on the trunk and then climbed onto her back. twisting some of her silky black mane around her hands she whispered, "I'm ready."

I hope you enjoyed,
Estella Kate
